Bill doesn’t force churches to perform ceremonies

May 2, 2012
The Maui News

An April 26 letter writer writes that she is "appalled at the thought of our government trying to force our churches to do ceremonies for civil rights couples" and references a bill that does no such thing.

No one, to my knowledge, has suggested such a thing. It's like the death panels formed under the Health Care Reform Act.

Then another letter writer thinks we just need to assess property taxes on all county facilities and land. Brilliant. Then we should slap a tax on the Internal Revenue Service for any revenue it takes in. Soon we'll have huge surpluses.
