Group to plant trees in Auwahi forest
The Maui Restoration Group will meet at Ulupalakua Ranch Store at 8 a.m. Saturday for a tree-planting expedition in the Auwahi forest. The activity is planned to last until 4 p.m.
Due to the rough and steep terrain, participants are required to wear hiking boots that cover the ankle. Volunteers are also asked to pack layered clothing, rain gear, two liters of water, lunch, sunscreen and a hat. All gear should be cleaned to leave hitchhiking seeds behind.

Flatbread sales will benefit sanctuary
Leilani Farm Sanctuary in Haiku will benefit from flatbread sales at The Flatbread Co. in Paia from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday.
For every flatbread sold, a percentage will be donated to the sanctuary, an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to providing care for rescued animals and humane education.

Maui Brewing Co. to host fundraiser
Maui Brewing Co. will host a fundraiser for the Monk Seal Foundation from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at its brewpub in Kahana.
The brewery will donate 50 percent of the profits from all house beers sold. There are currently 20 of the brewery's locally made beers on tap.

Mentoring organization for boys to meet
Boys to Men, a national mentoring organization now on Maui, will conduct a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday and Sept. 11 at the Kihei Youth Center.

Flu shots available at pharmacy
Foodland Pharmacy in Pukalani has flu shots for the 2014-15 season in stock for patients 18 and older.
No appointment is necessary and most insurances cover the cost of the flu shot, according to an announcement. For patients not covered under a drug insurance plan, the cost of the vaccine is $30. Kaui Krueger to perform free concert
Hawaiian music and hula performer Kaui Krueger will entertain from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the Baldwin Home lawn (corner of Dickenson and Front streets) during a free concert. Attendees are invited to relax with a blanket, mat or low beach chair; a limited number of chairs will be provided.
Krueger is the music coordinator for Kamehameha Schools Maui campus' award-winning Hawaiian Ensemble. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools Maui in 2011 and went on to win the Festivals of Aloha Richard Ho'opi'i Leo Ki'eki'e Falsetto Contest that year. Krueger's broad vocal range has earned him many accolades, according to an announcement. An avid hula dancer, he is a former winner of Maui's Hula O Na Keiki competition.
