State library system to purge accounts
The Hawaii State Public Library will purge inactive accounts from its patron database on Monday.
Inactive accounts may include accounts with expired library cards; no borrowed library materials in the past three years; no outstanding items, charges or fees; or former residents who have moved from Hawaii.
The database cleanup will not affect currently active library patrons.
Removing these accounts will provide an updated, more accurate database for business and management uses, state officials said in an announcement.
Patrons who discover their record has been purged may reactivate their card, free of charge, by completing a new library card application form and presenting it with their old library card and valid identification.
Internet computer users who use their library card to access the system's Internet stations or subscription databases remotely may notice that their accounts have been purged. These patrons may reactivate their accounts, free of charge, by completing a new application at any public library.
Gabbard to host 'Listening Tour'
Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard will be hosting a statewide "Veterans Listening Tour" next week, and the Maui session is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Pomaikai Elementary School cafeteria in Kahului.
The listening sessions are open to the public. Veterans, service members and their families are invited to share their ideas, concerns and personal experiences relating to the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Pacific Islands Health Care System, the news release said.
Gabbard, whose 2nd Congressional District includes Maui County, also will answer questions and take individual casework for veterans.
During her visit to Maui, she will be visiting farms, gardens, fishponds and research facilities that promote agriculture.
Two tents combined at the Maui Fair
The Commercial and Products & Services tents at the Maui Fair will be consolidated under one tent in the fall due to space limitations with the new fair layout and will be renamed the "Products & Services Exhibit."
Applications for space in the revised tent are currently available. Exhibit booth space is reserved, limited and assigned by the P&S Committee. Receipt of a completed and signed agreement, booth reservation form and payment by certified check, money order or cashier's check assures the exhibitor of a space. Final notification is made by the P&S Committee.
The 2014 Maui Fair "A Timeless Tradition" will be held Oct. 2 to 5 at the War Memorial Complex.
