Rainbow Warriors squander five-run lead in loss to Highlanders

The University of Hawaii baseball team squandered a five-run lead and lost 8-6 to UC Riverside on Friday at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.

The Rainbow Warriors (21-31, 5-18 Big West) led 6-1 after four innings, but lost for the sixth time in eight games.

Joe Chavez was 2-for-5 for the Highlanders (26-27, 12-11), and had an RBI double in a five-run fifth inning.

Dylan Stuart (3-0) earned the win with 5 2/3 innings of hitless relief.

Juliene Jones (0-2) took the loss.

The teams will finish their regular seasons with a meeting today.
