Free showing of 'Frozen' on Sunday
The movie "Frozen" will be shown at 6 p.m. Sunday during Pookela Church's Family Film Night, the church announced.
The movie presentation is free, and there will be no charge for popcorn or water.
The church is at 200 Olinda Road in Makawao.
Vacation Bible school starts June 2
Ala Lani United Methodist Church will host a vacation Bible school for children 3 to 11 years old from June 2 to 6, according to an announcement.
School hours are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the church located at 50 S. Papa Ave. in Kahului.
Titled "Workshop of Wonders: Imagine and Build with God Vacation Bible School," the program allows students to "experience how the ordinary becomes extraordinary with God," according to the announcement.
Activities include music, interactive Bible discussion, science, crafts, games and snacks.

Gatherings planned after weekend Mass
Christ the King Church will hold "Meet and Greet" gatherings after Mass this weekend.
Masses will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday and 6, 8 and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. Fellowship and light refreshments will be provided in the parish hall.
The church is at 20 W. Wakea Ave., on the corner of Puunene and Wakea avenues.

Expanded facilities to be dedicated
Kihei Lutheran Church will dedicate its newly expanded facilities during its 9 a.m. Sunday worship service, according to an announcement.
Participating in the service will be Bishop Murray Finck of the Pacifica Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
The project began in September and has added 3,500 square feet to the congregation's worship area, as well as additional classrooms and an outside lanai.
The Sunday service will include the choir and the congregation's hula group.
A potluck luncheon will follow, beginning at 11 a.m.
The church is on the corner of Piilani Highway and Moi Place.

Festival of Shavout services scheduled
The Jewish Congregation of Maui will celebrate Shavuot at Beit Shalom Synagogue with a number of upcoming events.
The Festival of Shavuot, or Festival of Weeks, celebrates the giving of the Torah. Services will begin at 6:30 p.m. June 3, followed by a light dairy meal and an exploration of various topics in the Torah. An assortment of community members will lead the discussions.
The recommended donation for the Festival of Weeks night meal is $18. Those planning to attend should contact the synagogue office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday by calling 874-5397. The deadline for reservations is May 30.
At 10 a.m. June 4, there will be a Shavuot service with a reading of the Ten Commandments from the Torah scrolls.
At 10 a.m. June 5, there will be another Shavuot service, including a reading of the Book of Ruth as well as a Yizkor memorial service.
The synagogue is at 634 Alulike St. in Kihei.
