Foundations and entities who contributed recently to Maui County community nonprofits and others are as follows:
Saltchuk Hawaii Cos., the parent company of Aloha Air Cargo, Hawaii/Maui Petroleum, Ohana Fuels, Minit Stop, Young Brothers and Foss Hawaii, has granted $15,000 to Hospice Maui toward its Facilities Expansion Project. Hospice Maui's project includes Maui's first residential hospice home as well as a new Hospice Care Coordination Center, a $3.5 million project that is expected to break ground in 2014.
"The owners and management of Saltchuk are committed to supporting the communities in which we do business," stated Saltchuk Regional Giving Committee member Kimo Haynes, president of Hawaii/Maui Petroleum.

Akaku: Maui Community Television has been granted $5,000 for support of its Youth Broadband Education Awareness Mentoring program from the Maui Economic Development Board Ke Alahele Education Fund "Building Pathways."
"We are honored to be recognized by MEDB as being worthwhile of support," said Akaku's director of education and YBEAM, Kat Tracy.
Duke's Beach House presented Autism Bridges Maui with a donation of $2,121 as part of its Legacy of Aloha program during a recent Henry Kapono performance. Autism Bridges Maui is a nonprofit organization that provides support and educational opportunities to individuals with autism and their families. A portion of the proceeds from Duke's Tasting Menu during January, February and March were donated.
"Autism Bridges Maui provides needed support and resources for families in our community, and we are so happy to be able to help their efforts," said Duke's Beach House General Manager Shaughn Helliar.
The Maui Farm Inc. has been awarded $8,000 from Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation for the Collateral Marketing Materials Project. The funds will support The Maui Farm's Resource Development Program, including upgrades to the agency's website, video and brochures.
"The goal of our Resource Development Program is to establish and maintain a diversified funding base that will sustain our residential and farm-based programs for the benefit of the Maui community," said Executive Director Paula Ambre.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act federally mandates electronic health records for hospitals and private physician practices. While Medicare and Medicaid provide incentive payments to eligible professionals and hospitals, nursing homes and home health care agencies are not eligible. A $5,000 donation from Alexander & Baldwin's Kokua Giving Program will help Hale Makua Health Services to procure and implement an electronic records system, according to an announcement.
Hawaiian Canoe Club received a grant of $15,000 from Saltchuk Resources Inc. The grant will support a seven-week summer program that enables children as young as 10 to challenge themselves physically while learning about Native Hawaiian culture and the environment. Kimo Haynes, president of Hawaii/Maui Petroleum, presented a check to members of Hawaiian Canoe Club at the Kahului club site in April.
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. has announced that through its Kokua Giving Program, it supported the charitable and community causes of 365 organizations across Hawaii with $1.3 million from the time of its separation from Matson Inc. in July 2012 through December 2013. The Kokua Giving Program was established to carry forward the charitable legacy of the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation, and to ensure that A&B remains grounded in its decades-old commitment to philanthropy that was instilled by its founders, according to an announcement.
A&B and its subsidiaries have given the following grants to organizations on Maui: Maui Interscholastic League ($25,200); Maui Food Bank ($17,750); Maui County Nutrition Program ($20,000); Doris Todd Christian Academy ($7,500).
