IRVING, Texas - Michelle Wie of Honolulu got within two shots of the lead before faltering late and finishing third in the North Texas LPGA Shootout on Sunday.
Stacy Lewis closed with a 7-under-par 64 for a six-stroke victory over Meena Lee.
Wie finished seven shots behind, but recorded her fourth consecutive top-10 finish, a stretch that includes a victory in last month's Lotte Championship on Oahu.
Michelle Wie watches her shot off the 13th tee at Las Colinas Country Club during Sunday’s final round of the North Texas LPGA Shootout.
Playing five groups ahead of the final threesome on Sunday, Wie was 6 under in a span of seven holes at Las Colinas Country Club - the ninth through the 15th - but finished her round with consecutive bogeys for a 67.
She missed the green at the 180-yard 17th, and hooked her 8-iron approach into the trees at the closing par-5 hole.
"I thought I had it on 17, just nuked it over the green," Wie said. "I just hit a wall on the last hole, which is disappointing for me. At the same time, 4 under par on the last day, I'll take it."
Lewis finished at 16-under 268, and her margin of victory was the largest on the LPGA Tour since Jiyai Shin won the 2012 Women's British Open by nine.
Lewis had six runner-up finishes in her previous 16 tournaments, and she has only one finish outside the top six in nine events this year.
"I kind of have these mini goals in the back of my mind," Lewis said after her ninth career win. "One of them was kind of taking a tournament and running away with it. So to be so close the last few weeks and then to come out and shoot 64, I mean I don't even know what to say."
Lee carded a 70 on Sunday.
Na Yeon Choi (69) and Kim Kauffman (70) tied for fourth at 8 under.
