District 9 of CWA endorses Sen. Schatz

Sen. Brian Schatz has received the endorsement of the Communications Workers of America, District 9, in his effort to retain his seat in the U.S. Senate.

District 9 of the CWA represents Hawaii workers in industries including publishing, call centers and news media.

In announcing the endorsement, CWA Area Director Ameenah McAuley stated that Schatz's "record for supporting the working families of Hawaii speaks volumes and will be a great asset in directing Hawaii's future."

Council candidate's event set for May 28

Maui County Council candidate Mike Molina will hold a fundraiser beginning at 5:30 p.m. May 28 at Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu.

The event will include Hawaiian food, door prizes and Latin dance music by Netto and Barbara. Tickets are $25.

Molina, a former five-term council member, is running for the Makawao-Haiku-Paia seat.
