IRVING, Texas - Michelle Wie of Honolulu, seeking her second LPGA Tour win in three starts, had a 4-under-par 67 in the first round of the North Texas LPGA Shootout on Thursday, leaving her tied for second place, one stroke out of the lead.

Suzann Pettersen opened with a 66 at Las Colinas Country Club.

Wie was tied with Cristie Kerr, Caroline Masson, Christina Kim, Cydney Clanton and Dori Carter.

Wie had an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys en route to her 15th consecutive round of par or better.

"Definitely, my confidence level is up from last year," said Wie, whose five top-10 finishes are already one more than she had in 26 tournaments all last season.

Wie also said she was enjoying some Texas cuisine.

"It might be ribs every night. I did ribs last night again. And I'm definitely probably going to make another appearance at another rib place this week," she was quoted as saying on the LPGA website. "May-be sprinkle in a couple of Tex-Mex joints, but it's a good eating week for sure."

Pettersen is playing for a second straight week after missing a month because of back trouble.

"I feel good. I mean very patient. Just really just trying to enjoy being back," Pettersen said. "I got to kind of pace myself a little bit."
