Lloyd "Luke" Lukens, 80, of Wailea, passed away on April 15, 2014, in Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 9, 1933, in Maysville, Arkansas.
Luke was an airplane metal craftsman having worked for the United States Air Force as a civilian aircraft specialist, retiring after 38 years as Chief Civilian Maintenance Supervisor. Upon retirement, he turned a hobby of restoring and/or making metal aircraft parts into a fulltime business. He helped restore numerous WW2 airplanes which were flown for pleasure, in the Reno Air Races and in movies.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria R. Lukens, of Wailea. They have resided full time on Maui for fifteen years. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea and South Maui Citizen Patrol as long as health permitted.
He is survived by six siblings: June Davidson, Jane Vincent, Katie Rickard, Patricia Hendricks, Darrell Lukens and Judy Brisk, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Yamon & Beulah Lukens, and three brothers: Robert, Clarence and James, as well as two sisters: Clara May Patterson and Colleen Anthony.
No services will be held per Luke's request.
