In reference to the article concerning the two teens rescued at Oheo pools (The Maui News, March 23): Shame on the parents.
While visitors can sometimes be excused for being overwhelmed by our wonderful island and do stupid things that put them in danger, these people are residents who should know better.
It has been raining heavy on Maui for weeks. The parents allowed the teens, as well as themselves, to violate park rules - and stated they had done it may times - which put all involved in great danger.
Oheo pools are well-known for flash floods and streams that rise in depth quickly and without notice.
The parents should have to pay for the rescue efforts and post a public apology to all involved for being so self-centered in their actions.
