Fifteen-year-old Dylan Vecchione, founder of reefquest.org, will help lead a tour of the reef at Kahekili at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The presentation and dive is part of the Coral Reef Alliance, Division of Aquatic Resources and West Maui Ridge to Reef Initiative's ongoing site visits.
To participate, RSVP and meet at Kahekili Beach Park pavilion. Youth are invited to participate, provided they are accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Those joining the reef tour must be proficient at snorkeling.
Dylan Vecchione and his father, Maurizio, conduct dives in Kaanapali to work on their “virtual reef.”
Reefquest.org is an educational platform that facilitates reef conservation and citizen science through underwater imagery and curriculum development, according to an announcement.
To RSVP (which is required) or for more information, contact CORAL Hawaii Field Manager Liz Foote at 669-9062, 283-1631 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
