Oil painter Betty Hay Freeland demo today
Watch the work of Betty Hay Freeland as she demonstrates her oil painting from 6 to 8 tonight at Village Galleries, 120 Dickenson St., Lahaina.
The event is part of Freeland's annual exhibition at the West Maui gallery, which runs through March 20. This year's show, which displays works that "capture the strength of Maui's beautiful waterfalls," is titled "Kumu Kai," according to a news release.

Sargent's Fine Art will host Richard Johnson
Meet acclaimed artist Richard Johnson during appearances from 7 to 10 tonight through Saturday at Sargent's Fine Art, 802 Front St., Lahaina.
"Johnson's expert brushstrokes, use of impasto and delicate rendering of the face and body work together in harmony," said Sharon Loveland of Sargent's Fine Art.
The events are free and open to the public. Curt Lee will play music Friday during Art Nite at the gallery.

Submit glass, metal work to Hui for juried exhibition
The Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center issued a call for artists to submit work Tuesday for "Cutting Edge: A Contemporary Glass & Metal Art Exhibition."
Artists may bring work using glass or metal materials to the Hui from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday for jurying. Jewelry, stained glass, metal sculpture, blown glass - all pieces using glass or metal - are welcome, according to the Hui.
Stephen Fellerman, Michael Mortara and Christine Turnbull will jury works in glass; Linda Yamamoto will jury works in metal. The exhibition prospectus/entry form is available online at www .huinoeau.com/exhibitions.
The show will be on display March 29 to May 8 at the gallery, 2841 Baldwin Ave., Makawao.
