Fundraiser to assist Lanai, Molokai teams
The Downtown Athletic Club Hawaii will conduct a fundraiser for the Molokai and Lanai high school athletic
departments from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 29 at Murphy's Bar and Grill in Honolulu.
Tickets can be purchased at downtownathleticclubhawaii.org for $75, which pays for food, entertainment and eligibility for prizes. Donations can also be made through the website by those not attending the event.

Memorial service for Tabura on Feb. 15
A memorial service for martial artist Ted Tabura is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Feb. 15 at Waiola Church in Lahaina, and a potluck will follow at the Naaikane O Maui Cultural Center.
Tabura, who grew up on Lanai and was a Lahainaluna High School boarder, is a Black Belt Magazine Hall of Famer and founded a martial arts academy in California. He died in August.
Nicknamed "Sickle Man" for his skills with kama - Japanese sickles - Tabura appeared in multiple films and promoted the Festival of the Kings martial arts tournament in Kaanapali.

Pair of aces recorded at Old Blue Course
Orlando Tagorda of Wailuku had a hole-in-one at the Wailea Old Blue Course on Monday, and Ben Urner of Victoria, British Columbia, recorded an ace the following day.
Tagorda's ace was on the second hole. He used a 3-wood for the 207-yard shot, which was witnessed by Mario Pigao, Ifi So'o and Brian Yesland.
Urner had his hole-in-one on No. 9, using a 7-iron for the 138-yard shot, with Tom Martell, Ron Dowhaniuk and Joe Dennis witnessing.
Bronco meeting set for Wednesday
The Maui Bronco Baseball League has scheduled a general membership meeting for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Waikapu Community Center.
