The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team opened its Mountain Pacific Sports Federation schedule with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 loss to Long Beach State on Thurs-day at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Brook Sedore had 16 kills for the Rainbow Warriors (2-2), No. 10 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association rankings. Kupono Fey had seven kills for UH, which finished the match with a .153 hitting percentage - including minus .107 in the first set.
Taylor Crabb, last season's the AVCA National Player of the Year, had 12 kills for the fourth-ranked 49ers (3-1, 2-1 MPSF), who began the season ranked No. 1. Ian Satterfield added eight kills as Long Beach State beat UH for the fifth straight match - the last two have been sweeps.
The teams are scheduled to meet again today.
