Mediation Services of Maui will be hosting an interactive training Feb. 6 and 7 and Feb. 13 and 14 to acquaint participants with tools and processes to help parties in conflict to resolve their differences.
Approaches utilized will include lectures and small group mediation simulations.
This 30-hour seminar will be held at the J. Walter Cameron Center, 95 Mahalani St., in Wailuku from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $350 for the general public, with a $50 discount if paid by Friday. The seminar is free to all current volunteer mediators. Participants should bring a lunch.
Topics will include:
* Learning to manage and resolve conflict effectively.
* Improving personal and business communications.
* Contributing to problem solving efforts in our community.
* Acquiring collaborative techniques to prevent interpersonal conflicts.
Upon completion of the program, participants have the opportunity to apply their skills as volunteer mediators with Mediation Services of Maui.
The trainer is Diane Petropulos, a principal in ADRinACTION, offering mediation, facilitation and training services. She has developed and conducted workshops and trainings throughout Hawaii, and is a former lecturer at the master's level in the human resource management program at the University of Hawaii - Manoa.
Mediations Services of Maui Inc. was established in 1982 and is a member of Mediation Centers of Hawaii and the National Association for Community Mediation.
It is a private, nonprofit organization.
