The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team opened its season on Thursday with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-21 sweep of Ohio State in an Outrigger Invitational match at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Brook Sedore had 11 kills and three aces for the Rainbow Warriors, ranked 14th in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Sinisa Zarkovic had nine kills, and Nick West added eight, with a .500 hitting percentage.
Hawaii's Kolby Kanetake had seven kills, and Zarkovic had six.
Driss Guessous and Andrew Lutz each had eight kills for the 12th-ranked Buckeyes, who were also playing their season opener.
No. 7 UCLA beat No. 11 Penn State 25-22, 22-25, 23-23, 25-21, 16-14 in the day's first match.
The Rainbow Warriors, who have won the Outrigger title six times, most recently in 2010, face the Nittany Lions today.
