Hawaiian Airlines will launch daily year-round flights between Los Angeles and Maui this summer in response to increasing demand from the Southern California market, the airline said.
The nonstop service begins July 1. Flight 34 will depart Kahului at 3:40 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 11:55 p.m. Flight 33 departs Los Angeles at 11:15 a.m. and arrives at Kahului at 1:45 p.m.
An Airbus 330-200, which seats 294 passengers with 18 first class and 276 in the main cabin, will be used for the flights.
The new flights capitalize on connections to Hawaii from other Mainland cities through Hawaiian's network of airline partners, according to a news release from Hawaiian.
In addition, the flights take advantage of the Maui hub, established in 2012, which offers an alternative connecting point for travel to other islands, the news release said.
"The island of Maui continues to grow as a popular visitor destination and also serves as an ideal transit point for Neighbor Island and U.S. Mainland travel," said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian Airlines executive vice president and chief commercial officer. "We've seen tremendous demand from both Southern California travelers and our kamaaina (residents), and we're very pleased to offer this new daily nonstop service for them."
