Rock the boat with Marty Dread on the Pacific Whale Foundation's Island Rhythms Sunset Cruise from 5 to 7 p.m. Marty Dread plays reggae, island music and pop and rock favorites as guests dance on an open-air floor during sunset. 'SPELLING BEE' GOING STRONG AT PROARTS
"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" takes the stage at 7:30 tonight at ProArts Playhouse in Kihei. The show follows six adolescent outsiders, overseen by grownups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, as they learn that winning isn't everything and losing doesn't make you a loser. Audience members are recruited to spell against the "experts." In this isle performance directed and produced by Jonathan Lehman, everyone is a winner - especially the viewers.
