Boise State edges UH in Diamond Head Classic’s first round

The University of Hawaii men's basketball team lost 62-61 to Boise State on Sunday in the final game of the opening round of the Diamond Head Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Anthony Drmic scored 21 points for the Broncos (9-2), including a 3-pointer with 59 seconds remaining for a 62-60 lead.

The Rainbow Warriors' Quincy Smith hit a free throw with nine seconds left, and after Boise State's Ryan Watkins missed a foul shot with four seconds to go, UH got the rebound, but Garrett Nevels was off the mark on a 3-pointer.

Brandon Spearman scored 17 points for the Rainbow Warriors (7-3), and Keith Shamburger added 13.

Hawaii will play Saint Mary's (Calif.) in a consolation semifinal today.
