Island Subaru welcomed Maui residents to "Share the Love" on Dec. 7 at the Kahului dealership.
The event featured a pet adoption and supply drive for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Maui as well as a clothing and household supply drive for Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii. Dozens turned out for the event, according to a news release.
"A warm mahalo goes out to the community for their support of Share the Love day," said Glenn Inouye, senior vice president, Servco, representing the Subaru Hawaii Dealers. "We are thrilled that so many pets have found loving homes and are touched by the community's generous donations of clothes, household items and much-needed pet supplies."
SPCA Maui Board Member Randee Gabrielle holds “Russell,” a cat available for adoption.
For every adoption at the event, Subaru Hawaii handed out a complimentary $25 Petco gift card and bag of Ilio Dentals Teeth Treats, and waived adoption fees for current and new Subaru owners.
SPCA Maui held drawings for free dog and cat spay/neuter treatments and adoption gift certificates and hosted an "Ask the Veterinarian" booth offering pet vaccinations.
SPCA Maui also offered pet nail trims; canine dental exams; skin, coat and behavioral consultations from Maui's pet experts; and pet photos.
Island Subaru will continue to accept clothing and household donations on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii through Dec. 31.
The public may donate household supplies and clothing and drop them off in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii collection bins.
