Kekaulike Winter Karnival at high school
King Kekaulike High School student government will host its third annual Kekaulike Winter Karnival from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
There will be food and drinks, entertainment, a jumping castle and superslide, carnival games, kiddie holiday crafts, poinsettia plants, holiday crafts and earrings for sale, pony rides, a mechanical bull ride (from 7 to 9 p.m.), and baked goods.
Santa and his holiday friends will be available from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Attendees may bring their own cameras to take photos.
Proceeds from the event will support school clubs and programs.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. The school is located at 121 Kula Highway in Pukalani.
Public access trails topic of presentation
David H. Brown of the group Public Access Trails Hawaii will be the speaker at the 11:45 lunch meeting of the Rotary Club of Lahaina on Thursday at the Royal Lahaina Resort's Royal Ocean Terrace restaurant. He will discuss Haleakala trails.
Brown also was a founding member of the Maui group of Hawaii Sierra Club.

Support group plans annual tree trimming
Heaven Sent, a support group for bereaved parents, will hold its 18th annual Memorial Tree Trimming on Sunday.
The event will take place at Wailuku Union Church, 327 High St. in Wailuku. Registration is at 1:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 2 p.m.
Participants are asked to bring a personalized ornament to place on the tree in memory of a loved one. Refreshments will be served afterward.

Christmas concert at Lahaina Gateway
The Lahaina Gateway shopping center will host a fundraiser for the Lahainaluna High School Concert Band and Concert Choir from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday. The groups will perform Christmas music.
Proceeds from the purchase of raffle tickets will benefit the band and choir.
Prizes include merchant products, gift cards, books and holiday food.
Seating is limited. Attendees may bring chairs.
People who bring an unwrapped toy for donation to local charities will be entered in a door prize contest.
Italian social club plans Christmas dinner
The Italian American Social Club will celebrate Christmas with a gala party at Fabiani's Restaurant in Kihei at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The four-course dinner will feature famous Italian foods from the Fabiani kitchen. The cost for the dinner is $25. People interested in attending may email Don Tedesco at email@example.com.
Law firm launches 'Legal Food Frenzy'
Legal Food Frenzy, a food and fundraising drive, will benefit Hale Kau Kau at St. Theresa Church.
Nonperishable foods and monetary donations may be dropped off at Araki-Regan & Associates, 1823 Wells St., Suite 2A, Wailuku, on weekdays until Dec. 20. The law firm pledges to match up to $1,000 in donations.
"The need for food and monetary donations is significant and constant year-round. We hope that this effort will help Maui residents and families put food on the table and welcome those who are able to assist," said attorney Lynn Araki-Regan.
This inaugural Legal Food Frenzy is being initiated in honor of Stephen E. Pike, an attorney with the firm. Pike is a longtime Hale Kau Kau volunteer who delivers food to the needy every Saturday afternoon.
"His commitment to deliver meals on Saturday afternoons inspired our firm to initiate this food and fundraising drive," said Araki-Regan.
Bake and crafts sale will help sanctuary
The Hawaii National Marine Sanctuary Foundation will hold a Bake Sale & Holiday Crafts Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, 726 S. Kihei Road. All proceeds will benefit sanctuary programs.
Music event a fundraiser for Maui Farm
OmZone Maui will present "A Soulful Christmas Benefit" for The Maui Farm on Friday and Dec. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kono's on the Green, Elleair Golf Course in Kihei.
Adisa Omar of 94X radio will emcee with music featuring Nara Boone, Shea Derrick, Jamie Gallo, Curtis Love and The Rare Vibration Band.

Appetizer special to benefit PWF programs
During December, all purchases of the Gift of Life appetizer at Fleetwood's on Front Street in Lahaina will help support the Pacific Whale Foundation's whale research, public education and conservation programs.
The appetizer changes day to day but takes advantage of fresh fish or special produce brought in fresh that day. The cost of the appetizer is $16, the full price is donated to the foundation.
