Humana Inc. is offering another option for Medicare beneficiaries in Maui County during the Medicare Annual Election Period that ends Dec. 7.
Medicare beneficiaries in Maui County have the option of enrolling in either Humana Gold Plus HMO or HumanaChoice PPO plans with coverage taking effect Jan. 1, a news release from Humana said. Both Humana plans provide Medicare-eligible residents in the county with alternatives to original Medicare or a Medicare supplement plan.
Members receive the benefits of original Medicare and prescription drug coverage, Humana said in a news release. The plans also offer members their choice of primary care physicians in the plan network, total coverage for most annual screenings and emergency coverage worldwide.
Both the HMO and PPO plans will include discounts on vision and hearing care, prescriptions, and complementary and alternative medicine, Humana said. The plans also allow access to Humana's nurse support service and Healthways SilverSneakers, which provides members with free memberships at participating fitness centers and access to discounted or free classes.
The expansion by Humana was approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and builds upon Humana's other Medicare plans currently available in Hawaii.
