November 21, 2013
The Maui News
The sounds and sights of hula, mele and oli will sweep Front Street during the outdoor Hawaiian Music Series concert featuring Kamehameha Schools Maui: Hawaiian Ensemble in Lahaina. The free show will be held from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the Baldwin Home Lawn. This gifted ensemble comprises students who learn to master an extensive repertoire of Hawaiian songs, dance and chant. They have performed at various venues in Maui, Oahu, New Zealand and Tahiti. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged for the outdoor concert. The show is presented by The Lahaina Restoration Foundation as part of its ongoing monthly Hawaiian Music Series program supported by the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the County Office of Economic Development.
