Hawaii's first Spanish-language Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend will be held Nov. 22 to 24 at St. Theresa Church in Kihei, according to an announcement.
"This weekend is a great opportunity for couples to rejuvenate their sacrament of marriage," the announcement says.
To volunteer, couples who've already experienced the weekend should call Lee and Tanya Barbero at 268-1578. To apply for the Maui Spanish weekend, contact Ignacio and Patricia Iniguez at (562) 228-3617 or email email@example.com. Space is limited.
Worldwide Marriage Encounter has been offering weekend experiences for more than 44 years and is considered the original faith-based marriage enrichment program. The programs are continually updated to keep abreast of changes in society, and WWME also offers evening and half-day programs.
The upcoming Spanish-language weekend planned on Maui is considered a nonresidential weekend, meaning that couples will gather at St. Theresa Church parish hall for daylong presentations and return to their homes at night. The weekend experience ends around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Maui's next English-speaking weekend will be held Feb. 14 to 16 at the Maui Beach Hotel in Kahului. There also are weekends planned for May 2 to 4 and Sept. 26 to 28 at the St. Anthony Retreat Center on Oahu.
