Be illuminated with "Forces of Light," the newest exhibtion at Viewpoints Gallery in Makawao. Unveiled Friday, the show is a unique father/daughter exhibition of paintings from Jan and Lisa Kasprzycki.
Jan is drawn to the light of his subjects, whether landscape, floral or portraiture. "It is the light on the subject that grabs me; there's the ambient light from the sky above, the direct light from the sun and the reflected light from whatever is around the subject," Jan said. "One could say that the artist is the conductor of that orchestration of light."
For Lisa, light is at the center of her collection's expression. "It is always light; the domesticity of a bright kitchen morning to the expression of mystery on a remote coastline where one leaf or one wave's foam dazzle the eye," she said.
