Caroline Smith, 86, of Hana, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2013 at home. She was born July 12, 1927 in Kipahulu, Maui.
Her ohana welcomes family and friends to gather on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. Mary's Church in Hana, with visitation from 9:00 am; Mass at 11:00 am; followed by burial at Puuiki Cemetery. Borthwick Norman's Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
She was blessed to be a homemaker. Her devotion to Christ allowed Him to use her in every way. She inspired others through storytelling and her love for all. A prayer warrior, no one was forgotten!
She was predeceased by her husband, Elwood Duane Smith. She is survived by sons, Duane Anthony Smith and Keone Kawika Smith; daughters, Teresa Uilani (Carmelo) Nicosia, Monica Mapuana (Francis) Day, Patricia Malia Henderson, Helaine Kuualoha (Mark) Montemayor and Denise Nalani (Raoul) Guerra; brother, John (Jane) Tolentino; sister, Marie (Paddy) Carvalho; 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by her siblings, Clarence and Joseph Tolentino and Martha Sinenci; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Leinaala Smith.
