Sunday polo matches to help fight cancer
The "Ride to Survive" polo event, a fundraiser for the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation, is scheduled for Sunday at Maui Polo Club in Makawao as part of a trio of matches.
A junior match is to begin at 11 a.m. The charity match, in which big-wave surfers will compete, is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., and is to be followed by the Abbie DeCoite Memorial Ilima Cup at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10, and can be purchased in advance at Charley's Restaurant in Paia, Aloha Cowboy in Makawao and Hi-Tech Surf Sports in Kahului.

Motor sports events set for next month
Stock and sprint car racing, and a demolition derby, are scheduled for Nov. 2 at the circle track at Paradise Speedway in Puunene, and endurocross competitions are set for Nov. 9 at the Maui Motocross Association's track.
Gates will open at 3:30 p.m. for both events. On Nov. 2, practice laps are to begin at sunset. On Nov. 9, they will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Spectator admission for each day will cost $10 for adults and $2 for youths 6-12, with no charge for anyone 5 and under.

Habitat for Humanity golf event on Nov. 2
The 13th annual Habitat for Humanity Maui Golf Extravaganza tournament is scheduled for Nov. 2 at Kahili Golf Course in Wailuku, with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $175 per person, which also pays for breakfast, a party after the event and eligibility for prizes, including a car and a motorcycle for hole-in-one contests.
