The "A Keiki's Dream" program invites families, clubs, businesses and kids of all ages to join its annual "A Keiki's Walk" on Oct. 26 at Hui Aloha Playground at the Kahului Beach Road side of Keopuolani Park.
Pre-registration starts at 7 a.m., and the walk starts at 8 a.m.
The simple one-mile walk through the park starts and ends at the playground, below the soccer fields. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes, trick-or-treat at stations set up along the course, and enjoy the child-friendly activities at the finish line area.
After the walk, there will be a costume contest, face painting, balloon animals, Henna tattoos and other activities.
Each walker is asked to raise at least $30 in donations ($20 for children under 18). Clubs, groups, businesses and individuals are encouraged to team up to raise more than the minimum in pledges. There will be prizes for those who raise the most money, and gifts including:
* A logo water bottle for $50 in pledges.
* A pair of Brook's sunglasses for $75 in pledges.
* "A Keiki's Dream" T-shirt for $100 in pledges.
Pledge sheets and donations may be dropped off Oct. 18 at: Maui Thing in Wailuku (7 N. Market St.), Pyramid Insurance in Kahului (270 Dairy Road, No. 160) or at the "A Keiki's Dream" office in Wailuku (95 Mahalani St., No. 24, Cameron Center). Or, simply bring donations on the day of the walk to the pre-registration table from 7 to 8 a.m.
To download a pledge sheet, visit www.akeikisdream.org. All of the tax-deductible donations go toward making a dream come true for a Maui County child in crisis, or to provide direct support for a child with a major medical crisis.
Over the past 20 years, "A Keiki's Dream" has provided more than 1,500 dreams for Maui children and their families.
In addition, through its program Sammy's Keiki Aloha Fund, it has granted more than $20,000 annually to support seriously ill children from Maui who must travel off island for treatment.
