Edward Smith "Aloha" Akima, 69, of Makawao, passed away on September 4th, 2013 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 3rd, 1944 in Wailuku.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 27th, 2013 at Ballard Family Mortuary, services will begin at 7 p.m., and cremation will follow. Private scattering of his ashes will be held at a later date.
Edward was a retired Drywall Journeyman and belonged to the Carpenters Union.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Henrietta Leinani "Loke" Akima and hanai son Jason Williamson and is survived by his sons, Donsmith Aloha (Darnell) Akima, Edwardsmith K. (Edwina) Villegas, Leesmith (Rosie) Akima, and Staceysmith K. (Ainahau) Akima; daughters, Johnellsmith P. Villegas, Wendysmith Emilani Villegas, and Rosiesmith K. Akima; brothers, Tony Akima, Ben "Butchie" Akima, and Jimmy Miyazono; hanai sons, Zac Kaina, Jr. Pua, Truman Akima, and Zac Tianio; hanai daughters, Tammy Tianio, Tida Pua, and Donna Hookano; and 25 grandchildren.
