Relief from Haiku heat

September 22, 2013
The Maui News
Haiku toddler Hazel Lopes cools off in the water fountain at the Maui Mall on Thursday afternoon. Mom Amy Galambos said even Haiku was sweltering Thursday. “It’s miserable up there,” she said. “It’s humid and there’s no wind.” Through tonight, forecasters predict trade winds blowing from 15 to 20 mph, with partly cloudy skies and scattered showers in windward and mauka areas. Leeward areas can expect isolated showers. High temperatures should range from 84 to 89 degrees, with overnight lows from 70 to 76. More rain and cloudy skies are predicted for Monday through Wednesday.
