Sept. 27-28-Tickets for the EA Sports Maui Invitational men's basketball tournament will be sold Sept. 27-28 at Anthony's Coffee in Paia, Hi-Tech Surf Sports in Kahului, Paradise Grill in Kaanapali and Mulligans on the Blue in Wailea, tournament officials confirmed Thursday. The sale is to begin at 9 a.m. and run until the closing time of each business on Sept. 27, and continue from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 28. The sale will end early if all available tickets are purchased. The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 25-27 at the Lahaina Civic Center. General-admission tickets for games on the first day will each cost $55, as will tickets to the third-place game. Tickets for either of the second-day consolation games, or the fifth-place or seventh-place games, will each cost $25. Tickets for each semifinal and for the championship game will cost $80. All-day reserved seats will cost $190 per day. The sale will be cash only, and limited to two tickets per person for each game. This year's field has Chaminade, the host school, along with Syracuse, Gonzaga, Arkansas, Baylor, California, Dayton and Minnesota. Oct. 12-The 40th annual Lester Hamai Memorial golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 12 at Maui Country Club in Spreckelsville, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. The event is open to all members of Maui women's golf clubs with an established maximum Oct. 1 GHIN handicap of 36 or better. The entry fee of $80 also pays for use of a cart, an awards luncheon and eligibility for hole-in-one and closest-to-the-pin contests. Entry forms are available at most Maui courses. Oct. 12-The Maui High Foundation benefit golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 12 at Kahili Golf Course in Wailuku, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. The entry fee is $150, which also pays for use of a cart, eligibility for closest-to-the-pin contests, a T-shirt, breakfast, on-course refreshments and an awards luncheon. Sept. 28-The Maui Open Championship, part of the Hawaiian Triple Crown of Brazilian jiujitsu, is scheduled for Sept. 28 at the Lahaina Civic Center, starting at 10 a.m. Registration can be completed online at hawaiitriplecrown.com. The fees are $50 for youths and $70 for adults until today, will increase to $60 for youths and $80 for adults until Sept. 22 and will go up to $70 for youths and $90 for adults until the entry deadline of 7 p.m. on Sept. 25. Spectator admission will be $10 for anyone 16 and over, $5 for youths 7-15 and free for youths 6 and under.
Oct. 5-The Wiki Wiki 5K and 10K races are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 5, starting and ending at the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center. The shorter race is for runners and walkers of all skill levels, and the longer race is for runners only. The entry fee, if postmarked by Sept. 28, is $25 for Valley Isle Road Runners members and Vitamin Shoppe Healthy Awards Club members, and $30 for others. The fee will be $35 if entering at the Vitamin Shoppe in Lahaina from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 4. On race day, the fee will be $25 for youths 17 and under, and $40 for others.
