Getting a charge out of science

(First photo) Maui Waena Intermediate School 8th-graders Janae Taylor (foreground), 12, and Jeremy Rojas, 13, get a charge out of finding which constellations are overhead by using an iPhone and a free app. They were hundreds of students invited by the Maui Economic Development Board on Thursday to take part in the annual Advanced Maui Optical and Space Surveillance Conference. It started Tuesday and ends today at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. The conference hosts experts in "space situational awareness" who discuss the latest developments in their field as well as space policy trends and issues.
