(First Photo) Seventh-grader Kylie Lynn Takushi draws signs alongside other students during Maui Economic Opportunity's kickoff of National Suicide Prevention week Monday at the University of Hawaii Maui College's science building. The week, which began with Mayor Alan Arakawa issuing a suicide prevention proclamation and a student-led suicide prevention workshop, will include public service announcements about suicide prevention at schools and will conclude with a sign-waving march in front of the college Friday, said Aris Banaag, support counselor at UH-Maui College and a coordinator with the project. "I'm very proud of these kids and how they're taking a step forward to deal with a very sensitive and difficult issue," he said.
