Katherine Katsu Moriyasu, 84, of Wailuku, passed on Aug. 19, 2013 at her home under care of Hospice Maui.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sat., Sept. 7 at Kahului Union Church, with a service at 11 a.m. and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kahului Union Church programs. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
Mrs. Moriyasu was born on March 12, 1929 in Waialua, Oahu. She is the daughter of Mr. Keiji and Mrs. Koma Kokubun.
She was one of the original registered nurses at Kaiser and also worked at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
She is survived by her son, James (Marny) Moriyasu; daughter, Annie (Kathryn Farley) Moriyasu, sister, Tsuyako Kimura; brother, Shoji (Setsu) Kokubun; four grandchildren, Akira Moriyasu, Samuel Moriyasu, Darrelyn Maeda, Lilia Maeda; sisters-in-law, Masako Kokubun, Machiko Moriyasu; and brother-in-law, Henry (Dora) Moriyasu.
Mrs. Moriyasu was an active member of her church which led to her travels to the Holy Land and surrounding Arab countries.
