"Les Miserables" is on everyone's lips right now (which is amusing, since it's oft mispronounced) and the bottom line is: It was a must-see.
What you didn't see was the incredible process it took to get to this point. I have attended rehearsals for the past four months and am in awe of the director, David Johnston, and choreographer Andre Morissette (who were grossly omitted from the Maui Scene review on Thursday).
I have never seen a director nurture and reveal a character with each actor the way David does, with boundless compassion and insight.
Harmonically, Andre has an innate ability to take a director's vision and make it move en masse, and this cast was massive.
They are the parents of this beautiful being that is "Les Miserables." Congratulations to both of them.
