Stanley Earl Rodrigues Sr., 82, of Olowalu, Lahaina, passed away on August 17, 2013. He was born on December 13, 1930 in Wailuku, Maui. Stanley retired from the Maui Police Department as an Assistant Chief of Police and was a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and a decorated combat veteran of the Korean War serving with the 5th RCT and awarded the Bronze Star with the V Device for Valor, the Purple Heart and numerous other awards. He was a member of the VFW Post 3850; 5th RCT Association, 5th RCT Korean Veterans, Hawaii; 24th Infantry Division Association and Military Order of the Purple Heart. Stanley was a past President of the Lahainaluna High School PTA, Police Relief Association, a former Cub Scout Master and a Pee Wee and Little League Coach for the Lahaina Cardinals.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Ballard Family Mortuary. Prayer Services will begin at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at the Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao at 1:30 p.m.
Stanley is predeceased by his wife Aletheia Brito Rodrigues and survived by his children; Cassandra (John) Rocha, Stanley (Ashlyn) Rodrigues Jr., Michele (Leslie) Vida Jr., Byron Rodrigues and Kimberley (Bruce) Baumann; Grandchildren, John Anthony Rocha, Iliana Rocha, Skyloh Rodrigues, Shiloh Rodrigues, Nicole Vida, Leslie Vida III, Maximillian Baumann and Elise Vida (predeceased) and 7 Great-grandchildren. Survived by sisters Lucy Moniz and Josephine Kell and predeceased by brothers George and James Rodrigues. The family requests aloha attire.
