HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, Hawaii (AP) - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park rangers rescued a 73-year-old man stranded overnight after surviving a 115-foot fall off a cliff.

Park officials say a hiker heard cries for help from dense vegetation along Halemaumau Trail Tuesday.

A helicopter lowered a search and rescue coordinator who pulled Harry Osachy to safety before sunset.

The Kurtistown resident was taken to Hilo Medical Center with pelvis and shoulder injuries. He had numerous scrapes and was dehydrated.
