* Tom Bell, a 22-year-veteran of the hospitality industry and president of Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts, recently was elected president of the Kaanapali Beach Resort Association.
Bell replaces Mike Jokovich, the former general manager of Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, who transferred to the Mainland.
Bell, who attended Punahou School on Oahu, also is a college lecturer and is a director on the board of Guenoc Wine Inc., director/secretary of the Kaanapali (Resort) Operations Association and a director of the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association, a news release said.
His resume includes graduating from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and managing the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki.
* Dermatologist Ellecia Cook, who was born and raised on Maui, recently joined the Maui Medical Group's Dermatology Department.
She is a graduate of St. Anthony Junior Senior High School and attended Idaho State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in zoology and biology in 2003. She obtained a doctorate of osteopathic medicine at Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Ariz., in 2009 and completed her residency at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Fla.
She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair and nails in infants to the elderly. She is proficient in Moh's micrographic surgery for skin cancers and other dermatologic surgical procedures and has extensive experience with cosmetic procedures for facial rejuvenation, a news release said.
