Guest painter practices her art

July 11, 2013
The Maui News
Kahului artist Julia Renigado creates a painting while stationed with her easel along Lahaina’s Front Street on Wednesday afternoon. Renigado is a guest artist for Hawaii Gelato. She said working in such a public place offers both challenges to her concentration but also some positives. “It’s a different kind of creativity, to see it through the eyes of the viewer,” she said. “It’s also a way to meet clients and make new friends.” Renigado gave credit to her art teachers at Baldwin High School for helping her learn the skills to become a professional artist. “If not, I’d be working in the pineapple fields,” she said.
