The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Maui has extended its "$40 dollar" fix for Maui's big dogs through the end of July.
The organization will fix all dogs more than 40 pounds for just $40 with surgeries performed at local licensed veterinarians.
Providing affordable "fixes" for Maui's cats and dogs since 2009, the society is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to a "no more homeless pets" through accessible spay/neuter services.
"This big-dog special should have made a significant difference in the number of large-breed puppies entering our island shelter," said SPCA Maui's Peter Tierney. "Large breed dogs have the biggest litters and cost as much as $500 to fix. Our Spay Neuter Assistance Program at SPCA Maui is designed to be quick, easy and no hassle too."
"Fixing pets before they have a litter is good for everyone" said SPCA Maui President Sue Liscombe.
