Johnson is runner-up at Pike's Peak climb
Jeremiah Johnson of Peahi finished runner-up in his division during the Pike's Peak International Hill Climb on Sunday in Colorado.
Johnson, who competed in the all-electric Exhibition Powersports-Z class, finished the 12.42-mile uphill course in 12 minutes, 5 seconds. Hollywood Electrics teammate Jeff Clark edged him by five seconds.
"It's an extremely dangerous ride," Johnson said. "We're racing on the edge of a cliff. Kind of like going up Haleakala."
Platt fourth at world skimboarding event
Kula's Zach Platt placed fourth in the age 25-29 amateur division of the World Skimboarding Championships on Sunday at Laguna Beach, Calif.
Platt finished second in his first-round heat Saturday, then won his semifinal-round heat Sunday.
The 29-year-old Platt was awarded the Sportsmanship Award following the competition.
Isagawa wins amateur golf event in Canada
The University of Oregon's Cassy Isagawa finished at 16-under-par 280 en route to winning the British Columbia Women's Amateur golf tournament last week at Pitt Meadows, British Columbia.
Isagawa, a Baldwin High School alumnus, won by four strokes over three players.
Isagawa set a Pitt Meadows Golf Club record by shooting a 6-under 68 in Thursday's third round, then matched the total in the final round.
