Makawao Third Friday town party is coming up this week, and it's a perfect time to saddle up to Stopwatch Sports Bar & Grill.
Of course, any hour it's open, seven days a week, Stopwatch jumps with either food specials, happy hours or live music.
"For summer, we're doing a lot of barbecue," says owner Haru Hiu-Arian. "Our smoky rib barbecue plate comes packed with coleslaw and your choice of starch such as rice, mashed potatoes or French fries - all for $12.95.

Two other barbecue sauces pair perfectly with the wild salmon. Choose from spicy-mango chipotle or sweet-guava sauce.
On July 4th weekend, new Chef Edwin "Eddie" Allomong will be turning up the grill for barbecue and also making big tureens of Portuguese bean soup as well as chili. Right now, the jacarandas are still in glorious bloom if you choose to dine outside on the patio. Inside, the bar and dining room have been buzzing with the NBA finals on six TVs.
Happy hour runs from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. daily with $1 off draft mugs, domestic bottles, well drinks and wines by the glass.
"We have Maui Brewing Co. and Kona Brewing Co." says Hiu-Arian. "We just got Sierra Nevada and have Pabst and Stella Artois. Of course, this being Makawao, we have Budweiser."
Chicken wings and calamari steaks are big crowd pleasing appetizers. Maui Cattle Co. beef burger with jalapenos and cheese is a top seller, and, the chef loves to cook fresh mahimahi.
For the town party this Friday, Jamie Gallo will play early from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and there is no cover charge. Uncle Dirty will get you on the dance floor from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. It's a "good rock band," says Hiu-Arian, and cover charge is $4.
Asian steak is a popular dinner entree. Manager Frank Border also bakes cherry pies and lava cakes, served with ice cream. Call 572-1380.
