For a few days this week, our already magical island will become even more enchanted as the Maui Film Festival opens its five-day summer run.
Starting with the Opening Twilight Reception at Capische? restaurant Wednesday evening, the festival will continue through Sunday with outstanding documentaries and short and feature films.
The festival will once again have favorite gatherings, such as Friday's Taste of Chocolate at the Four Seasons and Saturday's Taste of Wailea at the David Leadbetter Academy at the Wailea Gold and Emerald Golf Course.
Honorees this year will include Eddie Aikau (posthumously) and Nainoa Thompson receiving the Visionary Award at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Celestial Cinema at the Leadbetter Academy.
Kirsten Dunst will receive the Pathfinder Award on Friday; Jessica Chastain will pick up the Nova Award on Saturday; and Brie Larson will take home the Rising Star Award on Sunday. All those events will also take place at the Celestial Cinema.
A complete listing of all films and events is available at mauifilmfestival.com. Tickets for all events and films can also be purchased at the website or by calling (808) 579-9244.
See you at the festival.
