Rainbow Wahine bounce back from loss, extend season

The University of Hawaii softball team defeated Minnesota 3-0 on Saturday in an NCAA tournament elimination game in Seattle after losing 2-0 to Washington earlier in the day.

The Rainbow Wahine (45-12), No. 20 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association rankings, will play the Huskies again today - UH will need two wins over Washington, ranked and seeded 11th, to advance to the Super Regional round.

In the Rainbow Wahine's sec-ond game of the day, Kaia Parnaby (39-6) pitched a three-hitter for her 13th shutout of the year, striking out four batters and walking one. Kayla Wartner hit a two-run triple.

The Gophers finish their season 35-18. Sara Moulton (31-11) was the losing pitcher. Minnesota had also lost to Hawaii on Friday in the regional opener.

Washington (40-15) scored both its runs against UH in the sixth inning - Kylee Lahners hit an RBI double and later scored.

Kaitlin Inglesby (22-7) was the winning pitcher.
