Seabury Hall gives athletic awards
Renny Richmond and Kaleb Palmer were named Seabury Hall's male athletes of the year, and Kaulu Lu'uwai and Dakota Grossman the female athletes of the year on Tuesday.
Lu'uwai also won the Spartan Award, as voted on by team members, in canoe paddling and softball, and was recognized for lettering in varsity paddling for four years.
Palmer received a Super S Award for lettering in three varsity sports, and was recognized for lettering in varsity baseball for four years. Richmond is a four-year letterwinner in swimming.
Alden Simmer, Michael Clarion and Lena Fox were named the school's scholar-athletes of the year.
The other Spartan Award recipients were Simmer (paddling), Fox (volleyball and soccer), Lia Matsunaga and Brenden Heitzman (cross country), Nyck Yashiro (volleyball), Ryder Weymouth (football), Allie Rudow and Max DeLyon (basketball), Maya Okamura and John Van Scoy (swimming), Noah Walin (soccer), Alyssa Bettendorf, Roxane Gaedeke and Ryan Koss (track and field), Jimmsie Stisher and Reyn Stisher (golf), Tyler Gentile (baseball) and Gloria Ford and Nalu Ehman (tennis).
Ehman, Gaedeke, Rudow and Weymouth received Super S Awards, along with Daniel Pietsch, Nic Colon, Quincy Jones, Joe Bellafiore, Keanu Catugal, Carter Christie, Mogul Lu'uwai, Cayde Omura, Kawai Lu'uwai, Travis Mrantz, Sophie Janssen, Cody Wendt, Fletcher Prouty, Hobbs Weymouth and Phobe Fickbohm.
The other honorees for lettering in the same varsity sport for four years were Fox (volleyball and soccer), Koss (swimming), Van Scoy (swimming), Walin (soccer), Gaedeke (track and field), Gentile (baseball), Ford (tennis), Ryder Weymouth (soccer), Regal Deen Jackson (volleyball), Rhiannon Hernandez (swimming), Kristina Brown (soccer), Lauren Hecker (tennis) Zack Kresge (swimming), Ryan Noufer (soccer), Sierra Ludwig (swimming), Tiare Camarillo (basketball), Slayde Omura (baseball), Kara Termulo (softball) and Tiana Camarillo (basketball).
Cheerleading tryouts slated for next week
The Hawaii All-Stars cheerleading team will conduct tryouts from Monday to Friday at the group's gym at 180 Wakea Ave. in Kahului. Youths ages 9-13 will perform from 4 to 6 p.m., and participants 14-18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The fee is $50.
