Rainbows drop opener of series against 49ers

The University of Hawaii baseball team lost 6-2 to Long Beach State on Friday in the opener of a three-game series at Long Beach, Calif.

Stephen Ventimilia went 2-for-3 and scored both runs for the Rainbows (11-32, 6-13 Big West). Kaeo Aliviado and Conner George each had RBIs.

The 49ers (23-24, 10-9) got two RBIs from Colton Vaughn. Shane Carle (3-8) pitched a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Connor Little (1-6) allowed five runs - one earned - over seven innings for UH.
