The 35th Visitor Industry Charity Walk will be held from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, beginning at the War Memorial Soccer Field.
There will be food, prizes, entertainment and a morning of exercise, a news release about the event said.
Last year, there were a record-setting 2,500 walkers at the event that raised $613,025. The money benefited 84 Maui County charities.
Molokai participants in the Visitor Industry Charity Walk raised $62,606 for island charities Saturday.
Meanwhile last Saturday, visitor industry charity walks on Molokai and Lanai raised $62,606 and $26,003 respectively.
The Molokai Charity Walk began at Paddlers Inn and ended at Hotel Molokai and raised 10 times more than last year's walk. Barbara Haliniak, who heads the Molokai Island Foundation, has served as the Molokai Charity Walk chairwoman for the past five years. The organization raising the most funds on Molokai, more than $49,000, was the Friends of Molokai High & Intermediate.
The Lanai Charity Walk began at the Four Seasons Resort Lana'i, The Lodge at Koele and ended at the Lanai Senior Center. A Community Day Festival, sponsored by Lana'i Resorts, was organized for walkers and included entertainment, community and food booths, and door prizes.
The amount raised doubled last year's totals. A team of community leaders headed the Lanai Charity Walk, including Alice Bouman, Chad Campbell, Nicole Ceramie, Alberta De Jetley, Kimberly Miyazawa Frank, Noemi Haban and Tom Roelens. The organization raising the most funds on Lanai this year was Lana'i Resorts.
