Betty Hoch Johnson, long time resident of Lahaina, passed away on April 16, 2013 in Honolulu. She was born in Yuma, Colorado June 28, 1920.
A celebration of her well lived life will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 27th at the Lahaina United Methodist Church in Lahaina. A private family committal service will follow.
Betty was a graduate of Hastings College (Nebraska) and the University of Southern California. Her life was varied and full. She began her career as a university instructor, later becoming a military wife and mother.
Always focused on others, she led a life of service, volunteering in a wide variety of capacities no matter where her family was stationed.
After retiring on Maui, she focused on leading her church choir, and volunteering for Hospice, for the MACC, for Light Bringers and for many other charitable organizations.
In 1996 she was recognized as one of Maui Counties outstanding older Americans for her volunteer efforts.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Jay Johnson; and is survived by sons, Russell (Carolyn) Johnson, and Gordon (Lisa) Johnson; daughter Carolyn (Edward) Winston, and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lahaina United Methodist Church.
