Nine Rotary clubs on Maui will hold an islandwide food drive for the Maui Food Bank - a "Rotarians at Work Weekend" - Saturday and Sunday.
Rotary club members will be accepting nonperishable food and cash donations at the entrance doors of Foodland in Kahului, Pukalani and Kihei; Lahaina Farms; Times in Kihei and Lahaina; Cash 'N Carry in Wailuku; and Longs in Pukalani as they join more than 70,000 Rotarians on three continents working to serve their communities.
Maui Food Bank Development Director Marlene Rice said the food drives are vital to the food bank's mission.
Mia Davis, 9, puts a donation in a jar at a Rotary at Work Food Drive for the Maui Food Bank.
Its aim is to provide hunger relief for anyone in need.
Food and funds collected will help families, seniors on a fixed income and single parents who rely on the Maui Food Bank just to make it month to month.
The most needed items are canned meats, tuna, soups, fruits and vegetables as well as meals with protein, rice, peanut butter, pasta and financial contributions.
